My Lovely Birthday

Today is my birthday and I have had such a lovely time, my whole family met at my mum’s and we did her garden, it was what I wanted to do.

Mum was laying around on her bed as she had a fall yesterday and her back was aching, so we all took care of her, we left her in bed all snuggy.

We cut the grass and came across a hedgehog hiding under a load of leaves, he had the cutest little face, KJ picked him up and moved him across the garden and he trotted off behind the bushes and the shed.

We cut all the bushes back and trimmed the edges, it looked right nice when we were finished.

I got 2 birthday cakes, a white chocolate cake and a milk chocolate cake, mmm very yummy, I got lots of money, so I will buy myself a little present on my next holiday, looking forward to that.

We were planning our next holiday, four of us will be going and we want to go to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and New York, there are a lot of places we want to visit in USA, but it takes a while to save up for those holidays, but looking forward to it.

That’s my day it was lovely to be with my whole family, I love them dearly, my birthday is nearly over now, another year older and another year wiser so they say…

Today Was A Burn Out

Well I gave my mum the twiddle muff today and she really liked it and it bought a little smile to her face.

She thought it would look good on her feet as they are always very cold, so on her foot it went and her little toes had the bobble wrapped around it lol.

So these were my aims today:

  • twiddle muff – great success, mum loved it and all of it’s bits and pieces, so that was well worth making and I enjoyed making it so much
  • grass – my jobs today were in the garden, mum’s gardener had health problems and he isn’t coming back so I cut the grass today using a flymo. It was a lovely bright sunny day today, a bit windy but that’s ok, I mowed the back lawn then used the strimmer on the edges all was going well. I started mowing the front lawn then all of a sudden the lawnmower caught fire OMG, there was thick smoke coming from it, so I quickly pulled the plug out and eventually it stopped smoking, we have to buy a new one now.

So apart from the burn out, I really enjoyed today it was lovely…

Twiddle Muff Update

I’ve done some more on my twiddle muff and I think it’s turning out ok, there are so many ends to finish off, it’s going to take me ages, never mind.

The white area will be the inside of the muff and I have added bits to twiddle and a fluffy pom pom.

I have added on the outside, a line of chain with some beads that can be moved up and down, then in yellow there are some different stitches and three hoops to play around with, I might add some buttons to those.

This is all chunky yarn so far, the white that will be on the inside is so soft I love working with it, can’t wait to add more pieces on the outside will update soon…

Twiddle Muff Crochet Fun

I have started to crochet a twiddle muff, it is a hand warmer and is very good for people with Alzheimers, Dementia and other memory problems, they have all kinds of little items attached to them.

The twiddle muff is supposed to be a sensory stimulant and I think the colours probably help.

The muff will be double skinned, lovely and warm for their hands and it will have lots of things to play with and twiddle to keep their hands and minds busy.

Here it is so far, it is made using chunky yarn which is very soft and once I have crocheted it long enough, I will join the seam and pull the end through to make a tunnel.

I don’t know what’s wrong with this photo, I have tried everything but it wants to be upside down and I cannot change it

So far I made a couple of little bobbles, then did a row of pattern which turned out like little bobbles, then the next section (pink and orange) I crochet a flap with a couple of buttonholes on the edge.

I will be adding a few bits and pieces inside the flap, but I have to carry on crocheting until it measures 22″ so once I have pulled the end through, the whole thing should measure 6″ x 12″.

The strange thing is, I am totally making this up as I go and it is so good not having to follow a pattern. I will be giving this muff to my mum and see what she thinks of it, I’ll let you know…
